Garment Care Guide
How to Care for Your Branded Workwear
At Prestige Design Workwear, we supply high-quality embroidered and printed garments designed to last. Proper garment care is essential to maintain colour, fabric integrity, and the appearance of your company branding.
Following the correct washing and care instructions will help extend the life of your workwear and protect your embroidered logos.
Why Proper Garment Care Matters
Workwear is designed for durability, but incorrect washing, high temperatures, or tumble drying can:
- Damage embroidery stitching
- Cause print cracking or peeling
- Shrink cotton fabrics
- Fade colours
- Reduce garment lifespan
Taking a few simple precautions will help your uniform look professional for longer.
Washing Instructions for Embroidered Workwear
For best results, always follow the care label inside the garment. As a general guide:
Use a mild detergent and select a gentle cycle where possible.
Make sure your iron is set to the correct temperature as given on the garment care label. Many school uniform garments are ‘easy care’ and do not need ironing, refer to the manufacturer’s label for drying instructions to get the best finish from these items. Printed garments should not be ironed over the printed area.
Turning garments inside out helps protect embroidered logos and printed designs.
Always follow the manufacturer’s garment care guidelines as many garments are best left to dry naturally. Never tumble dry a pleated garment as this can reverse the heat treated pleating process – always hang up on a suitable hanger to air dry.
Avoid colour transfer and fading.
These do not adhere to stretchy fabrics. Only affix to garments you can iron and remember to put a layer e.g. a handkerchief, between the clothing and the iron to avoid scorch marks.
Harsh detergents can weaken fibres and thread over time.
What to Avoid
For best results, always follow the care label inside the garment. As a general guide:
High heat can shrink garments and damage embroidery or printed logos.
Bleach can discolour fabric and thread.
If ironing is required, turn the garment inside out and use a low heat setting.
Washing above recommended temperatures can cause shrinkage and logo distortion.
Drying Your Workwear
For best results:
- Air dry naturally
- Hang garments immediately after washing
- Avoid placing directly onto radiators
- Reshape garments while damp
Air drying significantly extends garment lifespan.
